Wednesday 20th February 2019 "Mothballs and a Whiff of Whisky" Emsworth Museum Illustrated talk by Nigel Gossop. Eccentric novelist Dr William Gordon-Stables was a prolific writer of adventure stories for children and adults. Born in 1837 he joined the navy in Portsmouth as a Naval Surgeon. After his retirement in 1871 he travelled around the country in a gypsy caravan named The Wanderer. He is remembered today as the founder of the UK institution ó The Caravan Club.
